David Cao

The founder of the Oriental Medicine Study Society (Silicon Valley) and host of the highly-regarded “Oriental Medicine Forum” in Silicon Valley.

David’s association with Oriental medicine runs deep. Raised on a small county hospital campus, David commenced his journey of standing meditation in 2015 under the tutelage of Oriental medicine practitioner Zhao Shizhen. Expanding his studies, he dived into Hunyuan standing meditation with the guidance of TCM practitioner Liu Hao in 2017. David has also trained in Qingcheng Tai Chi under Master Liu Suibin and Zhaobao Tai Chi under Master Ma Yaoxian. Furthermore, he has explored practices such as Daoist alchemy and the cultivation of inner energy.

In 2017, David established the Oriental Medicine Study Society in Silicon Valley, where he organized weekly standing meditation group practice sessions. These continued until the pandemic outbreak in March 2020. The society hosted numerous wellness and TCM events in 2018 and 2019, collaborating with esteemed institutions like Stanford University, Five Branches University, and the International University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

In 2020, David launched the “Oriental Medicine Forum,” a video interview series in Silicon Valley, featuring insightful discussions with over a dozen Oriental medicine experts and masters. David and the Oriental Medicine Study Society have also organized various meditation camps and training activities, nurturing a dynamic community of practitioners.

David is a passionate community leader of the venture capital ecosystem in Austin and Silicon Valley. He built the F50 ecosystem system, where he drove the F50 platform, and lead the investment into 30+ of them, including GummiCube (Sold to Airship), Knightscope (IPO 2022), Doc.AI (ShareCare IPO 2021), Flirtey, Oculii (Sold to Ambarella (AMBA)), Voke VR (Sold to Intel), Invi (Sold to Google), ,  CyberPulse, etc. David has intensive experiences in healtech,  PropTech, and deeptech.

 

David is the executive producer of Startup Founder World, a global startup founder network and competition, built on top of Silicon Valley’s largest and oldest grassroot entrepreneur community Silicon Valley Entrepreneurs,as well as  Austin Startup Founder Club started by David 15 years ago. He is the founder of F50, a global inverter network, organizer of Global Capital Summit, a flagship global investor event.

 

He is also serving or served as an advisor for DocuSign, Ehouse Capital, Peakview Fund of Fund.  David Cao was the Founder & CEO of GWC US (Sold to holding company); the founding president of the Silicon Valley Entrepreneur Toastmaster Club; founder and CEO of ExtendLogic (Acquired by BeyondSoft). Prior, he was the VP of Engineering at PlayPhone (Acquired by Gungho), a leading mobile entertainment in USA, and Engineering lead for LightSurf, acquired by VeriSign.
